Job Title: Energy Attorney

Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is actively seeking an Energy Attorney to join its esteemed team in Washington, DC. This role is ideal for professionals with 1-7 years of relevant experience, particularly those with a background in energy law, regulatory matters, and transactional work. The position offers an exciting opportunity to engage with complex legal challenges in the energy sector, including regulatory compliance and transactional work, within a collaborative and supportive environment.

Duties:

  • Provide comprehensive legal counsel on energy regulatory and transactional matters.
  • Collaborate with a team on nuclear, regulatory, and energy-related cases and transactions.
  • Conduct detailed legal research and prepare client-oriented reports and analyses.
  • Support clients in navigating federal and state agency requirements, as well as RTO/ISO processes.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex energy-related legal documents and contracts.
  • Maintain updated knowledge of regulatory changes impacting the energy sector and provide strategic advice to clients.

Requirements:

  • 1-7 years of experience in energy law, preferably within a law firm, state agency, RTO/ISO, utility, or federal agency.
  • Proven ability to deliver quality legal services in energy regulatory and transactional areas.
  • Strong analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic legal team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the bar in Washington, DC, or eligibility to become a member of the DC Bar.

Skills:

  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent research and drafting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork capabilities.
  • Capacity to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under deadlines.
