Duties:

  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for USCIS interviews and immigration hearings.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals, including detained and non-detained individuals.
  • Manage a diverse caseload of immigration matters, ensuring timely progress and thorough attention to detail.
  • Conduct client intakes and provide legal consultations, establishing appropriate strategies for various immigration issues.
  • Prepare and file immigration petitions, including family-based petitions, citizenship applications, humanitarian requests, and other USCIS-related filings.
  • Review and revise immigration applications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with current immigration laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, government agencies, and community organizations to address changes in immigration law and policy.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs, motions, and responses for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in immigration law, particularly in USCIS processes and removal defense.
  • Proven track record of managing a high volume of immigration cases and moving them forward effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage clients and colleagues professionally.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
  • Experience with case management software is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar membership in good standing.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in California (required).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration law, particularly USCIS processes, removal defense, and family-based petitions.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Strong case management skills and experience with legal software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
