Job Overview: A prominent law firm is seeking a skilled Litigation Attorney with 5+ years of experience in representing condominium, homeowner, and other common-interest community associations. This attorney will join the firm's Litigation Group in Chicago, IL. Location:

  • Chicago, IL

Duties:

  • Represent condominium, homeowner, and other community associations in various legal matters.
  • Defend directors and officers in claims related to professional negligence, breach of fiduciary duty, discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, and other tort claims.
  • Negotiate resolutions of disputes between community owners and boards of directors.
  • Advise clients on the interpretation and enforcement of community association governing documents, including Declarations, Bylaws, Rules, and Regulations.
  • Provide guidance on Illinois statutes related to condominium and homeowner associations.
  • Manage complex litigation matters, including both pre-litigation and ongoing disputes.
  • Collaborate with clients, opposing counsel, and internal teams to reach favorable outcomes.
  • Handle all aspects of case management, from initial client intake through resolution or trial.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in representing condominium, homeowner, or other common-interest community associations.
  • Experience defending claims involving professional negligence, fiduciary duty breaches, discrimination, harassment, breach of contract, and other tort claims.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and resolve disputes between community owners and boards of directors.
  • Strong familiarity with Community Association governing documents (Declarations, Bylaws, Rules and Regulations).
  • In-depth knowledge of Illinois statutes relevant to condominium and homeowner associations.
  • Licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to the Illinois State Bar.

  • Expertise in condominium and homeowner association law, including governance and dispute resolution.
  • Strong litigation and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
