A law firm seeks a Data Privacy & Compliance Associate Attorney with 2-5 years of experience in privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA. The ideal candidate will possess strong drafting and negotiation abilities, especially in drafting data protection clauses and compliance-related provisions in agreements. Duties:

  • Provide legal guidance on compliance with privacy laws, including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and similar regulations.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate privacy and data security provisions in commercial agreements.
  • Advise clients on privacy risks, best practices, and strategies for ensuring compliance with privacy regulations.
  • Conduct privacy audits and risk assessments, identifying areas for improvement and compliance gaps.
  • Manage multiple client projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality legal services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop privacy policies, procedures, and frameworks.
  • Stay current on the latest developments in privacy laws and provide updates to clients as needed.
  • Communicate complex legal matters in clear and accessible language for clients and internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • 2-5 years of experience working in data privacy, compliance, or similar transactional legal areas.
  • Strong knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and CPRA.
  • Experience drafting and negotiating privacy-related clauses and compliance provisions in contracts.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to explain complex legal issues in simple, actionable terms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Strong academic background and legal writing skills.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in a state bar association.
  • Certifications in privacy law (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E) are a plus but not required.
