Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Litigation Attorney to join its Sacramento office. The firm focuses on defending personal injury claims, including medical malpractice, ski accidents, car accidents, and other personal injury matters in California and Nevada. Additionally, the firm represents healthcare providers in matters involving professional licensing boards. This position offers a wide range of litigation responsibilities, including discovery, motion practice, court appearances, depositions, trial preparation, and trial work. Location:

  • Sacramento, CA

Duties:

  • Handle all aspects of civil litigation, including discovery, motion practice, and court appearances.
  • Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, settlement demands, and mediation briefs.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Prepare for and participate in trials.
  • Work directly with clients to manage their cases and provide legal advice.
  • Independently identify legal issues and litigate strategically.
  • Conduct legal and factual investigations as part of case preparation.
  • Track billable time and meet associated billing requirements.
  • Summarize discovery and medical records for case development.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California State Bar and in good standing.
  • Experience in civil litigation.
  • Strong understanding of civil procedure and evidence.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong legal and factual investigation skills.
  • Empathy and sensitivity to client needs.
  • Eager to track and meet billable time requirements.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Four-year college degree.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in California.

Skills:

  • Strong litigation and trial preparation skills.
  • Proficient in drafting legal documents (pleadings, motions, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle complex legal cases.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and clients.
  • Experience summarizing discovery and medical records is a plus.
