Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm in the Fresno, CA area is seeking an Entry-Level Immigration Attorney to join its growing team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a recent law school graduate or early-career attorney to gain invaluable experience in immigration law while contributing to a dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will be eager to manage a caseload, represent clients in immigration proceedings, and collaborate with experienced attorneys to navigate complex legal issues.

Location:

  • Fresno, CA

Duties:

  • Explain immigration law concepts and provide strategic legal solutions.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Manage a diverse caseload of immigration cases, including family-based petitions and removal defense.
  • Conduct client intakes, including those held in detention centers.
  • Prepare and file various immigration applications, including family petitions and removal defense filings.
  • Review immigration application packages and make necessary amendments to ensure compliance.
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to stay updated on changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct client consultations and provide strategic legal advice.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS interviews.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar admission in any state (or awaiting admission).
  • Strong interest in immigration law, ideally demonstrated through law school clinics, internships, or volunteer work.
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Team-oriented with excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred, but not required.
  • Previous experience with Case Management Software is a plus.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar Admission in any state (or awaiting admission).

Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to think critically and develop legal strategies for complex immigration cases.
  • High level of organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and immigration-related case management software.
  • Ability to interact with clients, law enforcement, and legal professionals in a professional and empathetic manner.
