A law firm seeks a dedicated Associate Immigration Attorney to join its team in Baltimore, MD. This role is centered on representing clients in immigration removal proceedings and other legal matters related to immigration law. The attorney will work closely with clients to provide legal counsel, represent them in court, and develop case strategies. Duties

  • Represent clients in immigration removal proceedings before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Conduct client interviews to gather detailed case information
  • Draft legal documents including briefs, motions, and supporting court filings
  • Perform legal research on relevant immigration laws, regulations, and case precedents
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to clients regarding removal proceedings and potential case outcomes
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to devise case strategies and legal arguments
  • Stay current with changes in immigration law, policies, and regulations
  • Participate in client meetings, consultations, and court appearances
  • Manage a diverse caseload, meeting critical deadlines and maintaining attention to detail

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active bar admission in Maryland, with additional bar admissions in Florida or California, preferred (or willingness to obtain)
  • Minimum of two years of experience in immigration law, particularly focusing on removal proceedings
  • Strong research, analytical, and writing abilities to support case preparation
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to advocate effectively for clients
  • Proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred; knowledge of Portuguese is a plus
  • Demonstrated commitment to immigrant rights and social justice
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented with a capacity for independent work

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited institution

Certifications

  • Active bar membership in Maryland is required; admission to other states such as Florida or California is a plus

Skills
