Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a Senior Immigration Attorney to join its team in Austin, TX. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced immigration attorney to handle a diverse caseload while managing client interactions and collaborating with a dedicated immigration team. The Senior Immigration Attorney will work on both defensive and proactive immigration strategies, offering the chance to grow professionally in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Location:

  • Austin, TX

Duties:

  • Explain immigration law concepts and provide strategic solutions to clients
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases, ensuring timely and efficient processing
  • Conduct intake sessions with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and submit various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions
  • Review immigration applications and packets, making necessary adjustments as needed
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on changes to immigration law
  • Meet with potential clients to discuss immigration strategies and provide consultations
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court and USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis to clients on case benefits and options
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration-related cases

Requirements:

  • At least 4 years of experience in Immigration Law
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward effectively
  • A team player who is open to collaborating and strategizing with fellow attorneys
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build client relationships
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, EOIR cases, Detained Cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the state of Texas

Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of immigration law and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and case management abilities
  • Experience with both defensive and proactive immigration strategies
  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders, including law enforcement, governmental agencies, and community organizations
