Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Tech Transactions and Data Privacy (Incident Response) Associate Attorney to join its team in Chattanooga, TN. This role requires a strong background in privacy litigation and transactional matters, with significant experience in federal, state, and international privacy laws. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of case work-up and trial preparation, interact with clients on sophisticated legal issues, and provide practical, actionable advice. The ideal candidate should have excellent academic credentials, superior communication skills, and a keen understanding of privacy regulations and data security.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle and manage all elements of case work-up, including litigation and trial preparation.
  • Draft and file briefs, complaints, pretrial motions, memoranda, and discovery requests.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare comprehensive reports on privacy and technology-related matters.
  • Provide practical and strategic advice to clients on privacy laws, data security, and breach incidents.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams on complex privacy issues, including regulatory compliance and incident response.
  • Assist with tech transactions and the negotiation of data privacy agreements.
  • Keep abreast of changes in privacy laws and technology to ensure compliance with federal, state, and international regulations.
  • Engage in significant client interaction, offering expert advice on privacy litigation and incident response strategies.
  • Support trial teams and manage the litigation process from discovery through to resolution.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience in a law firm or similar legal environment, with a focus on privacy litigation and tech transactions.
  • Strong experience in managing all elements of case work-up and trial preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle litigation matters independently.
  • Proven experience in legal research and drafting, including briefs, motions, and discovery requests.
  • Substantial knowledge of federal, state, and international privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Experience with client interaction and the ability to provide practical, actionable advice.
  • Excellent academic credentials with a J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to convey complex legal issues to clients.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with privacy litigation, particularly related to incident response and data breaches.
  • Knowledge of international privacy laws and cross-border data transfer regulations.
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and handling of data security incidents.
  • Experience in the negotiation of technology and data privacy agreements.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Tennessee or the ability to obtain licensure in the state.
