Job Overview:

A prestigious law firm is seeking a qualified Associate Attorney. This role involves representing clients facing debt-related issues and overseeing a docket of collection defense cases. The attorney will also pursue affirmative claims for violations of state and federal consumer protection laws. This position requires active licensure in California, with a preference for candidates licensed in additional states.

Location:

  • Oklahoma City

Duties:

  • Represent individual clients dealing with debt issues in collection defense cases
  • Review client circumstances and provide legal options
  • Represent clients in court; draft, review, and respond to pleadings
  • Attend hearings and trials as necessary
  • Develop and maintain client relationships; ensure regular client updates
  • Supervise the collection of client documentation and oversee settlement negotiations
  • Analyze and adjust settlement trends, and address post-settlement issues
  • Identify unfair debt collection practices and file relevant claims
  • Manage and oversee support staff, including legal assistants and paralegals

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years of litigation experience (preferred)
  • Active California Bar licensure; additional state licensures preferred
  • Good standing in all states of licensure
  • Must pass a criminal background check

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree

Certifications:

  • Active California Bar license (required)
  • License in multiple states (preferred)

Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills
  • Proficiency with computer applications related to legal work
  • Excellent communication and management skills
