Job Overview
A law firm is seeking a highly skilled Post-Conviction Relief Attorney to join its dynamic team. This opportunity allows for professional growth and hands-on experience in both criminal and immigration law. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation and/or appellate experience and will work closely with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. The position involves managing post-conviction relief cases and providing strategic legal counsel to clients.

Duties

• Advise clients on their legal rights and prepare legal documents related to their cases.
• Manage post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, motions for reduction, and early termination of probation.
• Collaborate with the firm’s criminal and immigration law teams.
• Represent clients at motion hearings and provide post-hearing advice.
• Handle criminal case proceedings, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing.
• Draft motions, perform legal research, and interview clients.
• Analyze legal precedents to assess probable case outcomes.
• Effectively manage a caseload and ensure timely legal service.
• Provide legal analysis and guidance to clients regarding potential case benefits.

Requirements

• Experience in criminal defense or immigration law (preferred).
• Prior experience handling criminal cases at the state and local levels.
• Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative attitude.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active State Bar membership.
