Job Overview: A prestigious law firm based in Duxbury, MA, is seeking an experienced Senior Associate Attorney specializing in trusts and estates. This in-office role offers the opportunity to lead and shape complex estate planning cases while mentoring junior staff and engaging with clients directly. This position is ideal for a candidate passionate about providing expert legal guidance and building strong, lasting client relationships in a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on trusts, wills, probate, and estate planning to high-net-worth individuals and families.
  • Lead and manage sophisticated estate planning, probate, and administration cases.
  • Draft and review estate planning documents using Wealth Counsel software.
  • Address complex trust and estate issues collaboratively with the legal team.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff, providing training and guidance as needed.
  • Conduct client consultations to understand their needs and foster trust and confidentiality.
  • Oversee client-facing design meetings and respond knowledgeably to client inquiries.
  • Manage and support paralegals and ensure the team meets KPI requirements.
  • Host community webinars and workshops (minimum two evenings per month).

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar; admission to NH Bar is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in trusts and estates law.
  • Elder law experience preferred.
  • Expertise in estate planning, probate law, and tax issues related to estate matters.
  • Proficiency with Wealth Counsel software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple cases efficiently.
  • Exceptional client-facing demeanor.
  • Knowledge of income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping tax issues.
  • LLM in taxation is preferred.

Education:

  • Doctoral law degree (Juris Doctor).

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the Massachusetts Bar (NH Bar membership is advantageous).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal technology and software, especially Wealth Counsel.
  • High organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with tax return preparation is a bonus.
