A law firm in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to provide exceptional legal representation to financial institutions in creditor rights matters, with a focus on residential foreclosure, bankruptcy, and replevin. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, offering innovative solutions to complex challenges while collaborating closely with the legal team. This role involves working with default servicing and mortgage bank clients, managing a variety of legal tasks, and ensuring the quality and timeliness of services provided.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal representation in creditor rights matters, including residential foreclosure, bankruptcy, and replevin.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop effective, practical, and innovative solutions to emerging legal challenges.
  • Work with default servicing and mortgage bank clients to resolve legal issues efficiently.
  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of loan documents, financial information, and correspondence.
  • Draft responses to motions and affirmative defenses received from defendants.
  • Draft, review, and ensure proper filing/mailing of pleadings, notices, motions, and correspondence.
  • Attend court hearings in person and via video.
  • Identify and address routine and complex legal issues, developing creative strategies and solutions.
  • Formulate causes of action, affirmative defenses, and counterclaims, and develop strategies and evidentiary bases for court advocacy.
  • Review documents and provide direction and oversight to non-legal staff to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Lead by example in supporting compliance and ethics programs within the firm.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Multi-state licensure (OH, KY) preferred or willingness to obtain.
  • Bankruptcy experience is desirable.
  • Federal licensure preferred.
  • Knowledge of foreclosure and/or bankruptcy processes is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and detail-oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong time-management and prioritization skills.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently or collaboratively as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to providing exceptional, responsive, and timely client service.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and general computer literacy.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Indiana State Bar and any other required state bars (OH, KY preferred).
  • Federal licensure preferred.
