Job Overview:
A premier law firm in Houston, TX is seeking an entry-level Immigration Attorney to join its growing team. This is a great opportunity for a newly admitted attorney to gain hands-on experience and develop their career in immigration law. The role will involve client interaction, case management, and collaboration with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. This position offers the chance to build a strong foundation in immigration law and grow professionally within an established firm.

Location:

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and provide strategic legal solutions
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA)
  • Manage caseload and client interactions, ensuring timely and effective case progress
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
  • Prepare and file diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions
  • Review immigration applications and make necessary revisions or adjustments
  • Work with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on immigration law changes
  • Conduct consultations with potential clients to assess case needs and provide strategic advice
  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court or USCIS testimony
  • Provide legal analysis for clients to determine potential case benefits
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration matters

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience in Immigration Law (entry-level candidates with relevant experience will be considered)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • A collaborative team player who is open to strategizing and assisting fellow associates
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, EOIR proceedings, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
  • Familiarity with Case Management Software is preferred

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in good standing
