Immigration Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Dallas, TX, is seeking a dedicated Immigration Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for representing individuals in removal proceedings, preparing diverse immigration applications, and providing strategic legal advice. The attorney will manage a caseload, work with detained individuals, and engage with law enforcement and community organizations on immigration law issues.

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and present strategic solutions to clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a diverse caseload of immigration cases.
  • Visit and conduct intakes with detained individuals at immigration centers.
  • Prepare and review immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Make necessary adjustments to immigration applications/packets.
  • Present to and collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law.
  • Conduct strategic consultations with potential clients and determine appropriate legal strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court/USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential case benefits.
  • Prepare and submit legal briefs for a variety of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to move legal cases forward.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR proceedings, Legal Writing, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with Case Management Software preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and support fellow associates.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Texas.

Skills:

  • Proficient in immigration law and procedures.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
