Duties:

• Provide legal advice to clients on their rights and prepare relevant legal documents.
• Represent clients in pretrial hearings and follow up with case strategy recommendations.
• Manage court appearances, trials, motions drafting, witness interviews, and legal research.
• Assess case outcomes based on legal precedents and formulate strategic plans.
• Oversee a caseload, ensuring deadlines and case objectives are met.
• Conduct legal analysis to identify possible advantages in the client’s case.
• Gather additional evidence to support the defense or challenge prosecution charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions and collaborate with witnesses and experts to strengthen case strategy.

Requirements:

• Active membership in the State Bar.
• Demonstrated interest in criminal defense law through law school clinics, internships, or volunteer work.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills to manage caseloads and develop strategies.
• Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality legal work.
• Experience with case management software is an asset.

Education:

• Juris Doctorate (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Bar admission in the state of California.

Skills:

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Capacity for strategic thinking and problem-solving in high-stakes cases.
• Fluent in both English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
