A law firm in Chicago is seeking a motivated and experienced Employment and Labor Attorney. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of broad experience in employment litigation and counseling, including statutory and regulatory expertise, executive employment and separation agreements, and the employment aspects of M&A transactions. The candidate should possess strong academic credentials, exceptional communication and legal writing skills, and a high level of motivation and initiative. Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel and representation in employment litigation matters, including wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, and wage and hour claims.
  • Advise clients on employment law compliance, including statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Draft and negotiate executive employment agreements, separation agreements, and other employment-related contracts.
  • Conduct employment law audits and risk assessments, and develop strategies for mitigating legal risks.
  • Manage employment law aspects of mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and integration planning.
  • Represent clients in negotiations and disputes involving employment issues.
  • Stay updated on developments in employment law and regulations to provide informed legal advice.
  • Collaborate with clients, colleagues, and external experts to address complex employment law issues.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations or training sessions on employment law topics as needed.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years of experience in employment litigation and employment counseling.
  • Strong academic credentials from an accredited law school.
  • Expertise in statutory and regulatory employment law, executive employment agreements, and the employment aspects of M&A transactions.
  • Exceptional legal writing and communication skills.
  • High level of motivation, initiative, and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases and projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in the state of Illinois (or ability to promptly obtain admission if not currently licensed).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of employment law and regulations.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal issues and negotiate effectively.
