A law firm in San Jose, CA, is seeking an Entry-level Immigration Attorney to join their dynamic Immigration Team. Reporting directly to the Managing Immigration Attorney, this role involves managing a caseload, engaging with clients, and collaborating with a team of attorneys and legal assistants. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in immigration law and be eager to start their legal career in a supportive environment.

Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and develop strategic solutions for clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of immigration cases with guidance and support from senior attorneys.
  • Visit and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file a range of immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and revise immigration applications and supporting documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations on updates and changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for consultations to determine legal strategies and provide initial advice.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court or USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify potential benefits and case strategies.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration matters.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar admission in California or pending (law graduates awaiting admission will also be considered).
  • Demonstrated interest in immigration law through law school clinics, volunteer work, or internships.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong ability to manage a caseload effectively.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the Bar in California or pending.

  • Basic understanding of immigration law and procedures.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent client service and communication skills.
