Duties:

  • Represent for-profit and nonprofit developers in the development, acquisition, construction, rehabilitation, operation, and sale of affordable multifamily housing projects throughout the U.S.
  • Work with a variety of federal, state, and local affordable housing programs.
  • Provide strategic legal advice on partnership tax issues and federal income tax credits.
  • Draft and review tax-related documents and agreements, ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and clients to address complex tax-related matters.
  • Assist in client meetings, providing clear and concise legal advice and updates.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support tax strategies and solutions.
  • Mentor and supervise junior associates, offering guidance and support in their professional development.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in partnership tax, with a focus on federal income tax credits.
  • Strong background in accounting, with an undergraduate degree in Accounting.
  • Experience with affordable housing tax credits and related legal matters is highly desirable.
  • Excellent academic credentials, with a focus on tax law.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • High attention to detail, with strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  • Membership in good standing with any state bar.

Education:

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • LLM in Taxation is preferred.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in PA State Bar, in good standing.

Skills:

  • Strong tax law knowledge, particularly related to partnership taxation and federal income tax credits.
  • Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
  • Proficient in legal software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Detail-oriented, with a strong ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
