Associate Attorney with some experience

A law firm in Los Angeles, CA is seeking an Associate Attorney with experience in defense-side labor and employment law to handle wage and hour class actions and wrongful termination cases. The attorney will assist with litigation tasks, including hearings, depositions, and oppositions to motions. The position offers a hybrid work environment with the possibility of remote work on some days.

Job Responsibilities:

• Handle wage and hour class actions and wrongful termination cases, managing all stages of litigation, from case intake to settlement or trial.
• Assist with litigation tasks, including preparing for and attending hearings, conducting depositions, and drafting oppositions to motions.
• Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs.
• Provide strategic advice and legal counsel to clients on labor and employment law matters, particularly related to wage and hour claims and wrongful terminations.
• Work with senior attorneys to develop case strategies, ensuring compliance with applicable labor laws and regulations.
• Negotiate settlements and work towards favorable outcomes for clients in complex labor disputes.
• Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on case progress and discussing legal strategies.
• Collaborate with paralegals, legal assistants, and other attorneys to manage case files and meet all procedural deadlines.
• Participate in mediation and arbitration proceedings to resolve disputes outside of court when possible.

Requirements:

• Defense-side labor and employment law experience in a major law firm.
• Experience handling wage and hour class actions and wrongful termination cases is required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to draft persuasive legal documents and present arguments in court.
• Proven ability to manage all phases of litigation, including hearings, depositions, and motion practice.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team.
• Comfort with a hybrid work environment, with the possibility of remote work on certain days of the week.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar is required.

Certifications (Preferred):

• Certification or coursework in labor and employment law is beneficial but not required.
