Job Overview:

A prominent law firm is seeking an Employment & Labor Attorney with 1-2 years of experience to join its fast-paced Employment and Labor practice group in Washington, D.C. office. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in employment counseling, particularly in statutory and regulatory compliance, executive employment and separation agreements, and the employment aspects of M&A transactions. Some experience in litigation or affirmative action plans is also a plus. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a high-energy environment.

Location:

  • Washington, D.C.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on statutory and regulatory compliance in employment law.
  • Assist with executive employment agreements, separation agreements, and related matters.
  • Advise clients on the employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions.
  • Support employment litigation matters as needed.
  • Work on affirmative action plans and compliance issues (if applicable).
  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents and memoranda.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on various employment-related matters.
  • Attend client meetings and provide guidance on employment law issues.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in employment counseling.
  • Experience with statutory and regulatory compliance, executive agreements, and employment law aspects of M&A transactions.
  • Some litigation or affirmative action plan experience preferred.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active bar membership in the jurisdiction where the candidate will be practicing (D.C. or Virginia preferred).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of employment law and related regulations.
  • Strong experience with employment counseling, including executive agreements and M&A.
  • Litigation experience (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to draft legal documents and provide strategic legal advice.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
