Job Overview:

Location:

Duties:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate purchase contracts, leases, financing documents, and other corporate and real estate-related agreements
  • Review title examinations, title commitments, title policies, and surveys
  • Draft and respond to title objection letters
  • Coordinate and conduct closings and manage post-closing documentation
  • Advise clients on land use, zoning issues, and other real estate concerns
  • Assist clients with tax credit opportunities and economic development incentives
  • Support senior attorneys with commercial real estate matters
  • Supervise and mentor paralegal and legal assistant staff
  • Advise other attorneys within the firm on real estate-related matters
  • Organize and maintain client files in an effective and efficient manner

Requirements:

  • Experience representing developers or clients in complex commercial real estate and financing transactions
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Licensed in South Carolina, or willingness to become licensed in the state
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong work ethic
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and writing skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional demeanor with high levels of confidentiality
  • Commitment to community involvement and the legal profession
  • Experience with economic development incentives (preferred, not required)
  • Familiarity with SoftPro (preferred, not required)

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Admission to the South Carolina Bar (or willingness to become admitted)

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina (or ability to obtain admission)

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, drafting, and analytical skills
  • Excellent negotiation and client communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex transactions and advise clients effectively
  • Proficient in managing multiple priorities under tight deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
