Job Overview: A law firm seeks a dedicated and experienced Personal Injury Attorney to join its team in Hackensack, NJ. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in plaintiff's personal injury law and a passion for advocating for clients. This role requires exceptional negotiation skills, the ability to manage a high caseload, and proficiency in handling all aspects of personal injury cases, from initial client meetings to court appearances.

Job Duties:

  • Communicate with clients to understand their legal needs and concerns and provide expert advice.
  • Develop strategies to resolve cases favorably and cost-effectively.
  • Review discovery documents and determine the best course of action for each client in each case.
  • Take, review, and administer complete depositions and oral hearings of case witnesses and experts.
  • Prepare all necessary documents to file cases (handling a caseload 150).
  • Meet and contact clients and potential clients daily.
  • Work closely with legal assistants and paralegals to prepare comprehensive briefs for cases going to trial.
  • Maintain a regular schedule of hearings, court appearances, and conferences based on case requirements.
  • Schedule and administer complete depositions of cases, witnesses, and experts.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor two paralegals.

Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of plaintiff’s personal injury experience.
  • Must be licensed to practice law in New Jersey.
  • Proficiency in negotiating settlements with insurance carriers and resolving property damage claims.
  • Experience with trials and courtroom procedures.
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the New Jersey State Bar Association.

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with Case Management systems such as Smart Advocate and Document Management.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong team player with collaborative attributes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional integrity.
