Job Overview:
A leading law firm located in New York City is seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Creditors' Rights Litigation Associate to join their dynamic Litigation team. Duties:

  • Drafting complaints, motions, and other legal documents related to commercial creditors' rights litigation.
  • Conducting discovery, depositions, and managing litigation processes in federal, state, and bankruptcy courts.
  • Representing clients in cases involving commercial loan enforcement, collateral repossession, and equipment leasing.
  • Engaging in negotiations with opposing counsel to resolve disputes.
  • Advising clients on commercial finance matters, including Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) provisions.
  • Collaborating closely with senior attorneys, including shareholders, in client-facing activities and business development.
  • Managing and tracking case progress, ensuring timely and effective resolution of litigation matters.

Requirements:

  • 3-4 years of law firm experience focused on creditors' rights litigation.
  • Experience in bankruptcy law is a plus.
  • Proven ability to handle complex litigation, including drafting legal documents and managing discovery.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with experience in court appearances and depositions.
  • Experience with the Uniform Commercial Code, especially Articles 2, 2A, and 9.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a collaborative environment.
  • Admission to the New York Bar, or steps towards obtaining admission.

Education:

  • J.D. degree (or equivalent) from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in New York or actively pursuing licensure.

Skills:

  • Expertise in commercial creditors' rights litigation and related areas of law.
  • Proficiency in case management and legal research.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Negotiation and settlement experience.
