A law firm seeks an experienced Principal Attorney specializing in international trade law to join its Business Practice Group in New York City, NY. This role provides an opportunity to manage complex international transactions across various industries, focusing on trade compliance, customs regulations, and global trade agreements. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, delivering strategic legal support to clients involved in global trade.

Duties

  • Advise clients on international trade compliance and customs issues, including tariff classification, valuation, and transfer pricing.
  • Guide clients on forced labor compliance, handling customs enforcement, and managing antidumping and countervailing duty orders.
  • Ensure client adherence to trade agreements and regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across diverse practice areas to offer comprehensive client solutions.
  • Represent clients in interactions with regulatory agencies regarding trade compliance and enforcement matters.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in international trade law, with expertise in customs and import compliance, tariff classification, valuation, transfer pricing, and antidumping and countervailing duty enforcement.
  • Book of Business: Portable book of business is required.
  • Academic Credentials: JD from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic performance.
  • Licensing: Active law license.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical abilities, drafting, and client-focused approach.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills for effective client interactions.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law.
