Junior Privacy and Cyber security Associate Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm specializing in privacy and cybersecurity law is seeking a Junior Privacy and cybersecurity Associate Attorney to join its team in New York City. The ideal candidate will support the firm's practice by advising clients on privacy compliance, cybersecurity matters, and related regulatory issues.

Job Duties:

• Conducting due diligence for mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and financings, focusing on privacy and cybersecurity issues.
• Drafting and negotiating privacy and security policies, data processing agreements, and other privacy-related contracts.
• Providing legal counsel on privacy issues in technology transactions, licensing agreements, and general commercial contracts.
• Performing privacy compliance assessments and advising on regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, GLBA, GDPR, CCPA, and other federal, state, and international privacy laws.
• Assisting in developing and implementing data protection strategies and policies for clients.
• Conducting legal research and staying updated on emerging privacy laws and cybersecurity trends.
• Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, and business units, to address privacy concerns and mitigate risks.

Requirements:

• 2-4 years of experience in privacy and cybersecurity law, particularly in business transactions.
• Strong understanding of federal privacy laws (HIPAA, GLBA, FCRA, CAN-SPAM, COPPA, FTC Act), state privacy laws (CCPA), and international privacy regimes (GDPR).
• Membership in the California or New York Bar or eligibility to take the next available exam.
• Superior academic credentials from an accredited law school.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Experience with adtech and artificial intelligence (AI) legal issues is desirable.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.

Education and Certifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Membership in the California or New York Bar Association or eligibility to take the next available exam.
