Job Title: Student Services And Disabilities Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A Pleasanton, CA-based law firm is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Associate Attorney to join its Student Services and Disability legal team. This position is ideal for early-career attorneys with a passion for educational equity and a strong foundation in legal writing and research. The role involves close collaboration with senior legal professionals to address a wide range of legal matters involving students in the pre-K to 12 educational system, particularly in the area of disability rights.

Duties:

  • Assist senior attorneys and partners on legal matters concerning students' rights in educational environments

  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, and other court documents

  • Participate in administrative hearings and provide litigation support

  • Advise educational clients on issues related to disability accommodations, compliance, and policy

  • Engage with administrative bodies including the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH), California Department of Education (CDE), and the Federal Office for Civil Rights (OCR)

  • Support client counseling efforts in day-to-day matters involving Section 504, IDEA, ADA, and related legal frameworks

Requirements:

  • 0-5 years of experience in legal practice, preferably with exposure to education or disability law

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities

  • Demonstrated interest or experience in working with public sector clients or educational institutions

  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative legal team

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

  • Admission to the California State Bar, or eligibility for admission

Certifications:

  • An active member of the California Bar (required)

Skills:

  • Legal research and drafting

  • Understanding of federal and California-specific education and disability statutes

  • Interpersonal communication and client interaction
