Workers' Compensation Attorney

Job Overview:
A well-established law firm is seeking a Workers' Compensation Attorney with over 5 years of experience in defending workers' compensation and general liability cases. The firm’s Brentwood office will be the base for this position, with responsibilities including litigation, client management, and case strategy.

Location:

• Brentwood, TN

Duties:

• Litigate workers' compensation cases through all phases of litigation
• Represent the interests of employers or insurers at hearings, trials, depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings
• Manage client relationships and market services to both existing and potential clients
• Communicate regularly with claims representatives
• Monitor loss run reports for trends and address any concerns with management
• Gather medical evidence and records to support cases
• Take depositions of claimants, physicians, medical experts, and other parties
• Conduct discovery, legal research, and stay current on changes in the law
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, findings of fact, and other legal documents
• Assist in accident investigations and identify potential risk areas
• Manage workers' compensation costs to minimize liability
• Coordinate and attend claims reviews, negotiate settlements on behalf of insurers
• Other related duties as assigned

Requirements:

• J.D. and licensed to practice in Tennessee (license in other Midwest states is a plus)
• 5+ years of progressive experience in workers' compensation defense (General Liability experience is a plus)
• In-depth knowledge of legal principles, practices, and local, state, and federal laws and regulations
• Strong legal research skills and understanding of legal terminology
• Proficient in Microsoft Word; experience with Time Matters legal software preferred
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational, planning, and dependability skills
• Commitment to firm and client confidentiality

Education:

• J.D. from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Tennessee Bar (additional Midwestern state bars a plus)
