Complex Litigation Associate Attorney

A law firm in New York City is seeking a skilled Complex Litigation Associate Attorney with at least 3 years of experience in complex commercial litigation. The ideal candidate will have strong research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills, with a background that may include experience with insurance and reinsurance related representations, regulatory matters, and transactional work.

Duties:

• Conduct legal research, analyze complex legal issues, and provide counsel on litigation strategies.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
• Manage discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Prepare for and attend court appearances, including depositions and hearings (first or second chair).
• Take responsibility for case management and client communications.
• Collaborate with partners, clients, and experts to develop case strategies.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar; additional jurisdictions a plus.
• 3+ years of experience in complex commercial litigation.
• Experience with the New York Civil Practice Law and Rules (CPLR).
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple cases.
• Excellent academic credentials.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
• Judicial clerkship experience is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with insurance and reinsurance related representations and regulatory matters is a plus.
• Transactional experience in insurance-centric industries is beneficial.

Although more commonly thought of as a Washington, DC, firm, this New York office has many of the same practice areas.
