Job Title: Defense Litigation Associate Attorney
Job Location: New Haven, CT (Hybrid remote options available in other locations)

Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a motivated and skilled Defense Litigation Associate Attorney to join its Mass Torts and Industry-Wide Litigation team. This role will focus primarily on NYS Labor Law and personal injury litigation, offering a dynamic and collaborative work environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defense litigation and be ready to work with a variety of legal professionals across multiple offices.

Duties:

  • Research Labor Law and personal injury matters and assist senior attorneys in developing defense strategies
  • Take and defend depositions
  • Manage discovery processes, including e-discovery
  • Draft legal memoranda, motions, pleadings, discovery demands, and briefs
  • Participate in trial and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) planning
  • Represent clients at courtroom conferences and motion appearances
  • Handle the day-to-day management of Labor Law and personal injury cases under supervision
  • Maintain a minimum of 1900 billable hours annually

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in general liability litigation
  • Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active admission to the New York State Bar
  • Admission to the Connecticut, Massachusetts, and/or New Jersey Bar (or eligibility to waive into New Jersey) preferred
  • Experience practicing before NYS courts required; federal court experience a plus
  • Strong proficiency in depositions, motions, pleadings, and e-discovery
  • Comfort with virtual platforms such as Zoom and MS Teams for depositions and meetings
  • Willingness to travel for depositions and court appearances, including overnight stays as necessary

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications:

  • New York State Bar admission (required)
  • Additional Bar admissions in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and/or New Jersey preferred

Skills:

  • Strong legal research, writing, and verbal communication skills
  • High level of organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to handle competing priorities
  • Professional demeanor with a cooperative, positive attitude
  • Military experience is welcomed
