A law firm seeks a Senior Immigration Attorney to join its team in Miami, Florida. Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice and strategic counsel on various immigration matters.
  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), both for detained and non-detained individuals.
  • Oversee and manage a diverse caseload involving complex immigration matters.
  • Conduct client intakes and provide legal advice to individuals at detention centers.
  • Prepare and file immigration applications, including those related to removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian relief.
  • Review, revise, and ensure the accuracy of immigration application packets.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding immigration law changes.
  • Meet with prospective clients to assess their legal needs and devise appropriate strategies.
  • Develop case strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances or USCIS interviews.
  • Draft legal briefs and other filings for various immigration cases.
  • Provide clients with legal analysis to identify the strengths and benefits of their cases.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in immigration law, with expertise in removal defense, family-based petitions, humanitarian cases, and other USCIS matters.
  • Strong background in representing detained and non-detained individuals in immigration proceedings.
  • Ability to manage a caseload effectively while maintaining high standards of client service.
  • A collaborative, team-oriented attitude, with a willingness to work closely with colleagues and share strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred but not required.
  • Proficient with case management software and other legal technologies.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Florida.

Skills:

  • Expertise in immigration law, particularly in removal defense, family-based petitions, and humanitarian relief.
  • Strong legal writing and research skills, including experience drafting legal briefs and motions.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases efficiently.
  • Ability to provide clear, actionable legal advice and develop strategic plans for clients.
  • Experience with case management software is a plus.
