Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience in insurance defense

A law firm in Orlando, FL, is seeking an Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience in insurance defense. The ideal candidate will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and analyzing legal documents, reports to the carrier, pleadings, motions, and discovery notices and responses. They will also take and defend depositions, appear in court for conferences, motions, and hearings, and conduct legal research using tools such as Westlaw. Experience in insurance defense is preferred, with the ability to manage complex cases, discovery, take depositions, and interview experts being essential. Superior writing and litigation skills are a must for this role.

Job Duties:

• Drafting, reviewing, and analyzing legal documents, including reports, pleadings, motions, and discovery notices/responses.
• Taking and defending depositions.
• Appearing in court for conferences, motions, and hearings.
• Conducting legal research using Westlaw or similar platforms.
• Managing complex cases and overseeing discovery processes.
• Interviewing experts as necessary.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admitted to the Florida State Bar or eligible for admission.
• 1-3 years of experience in insurance defense preferred.
• Experience with drafting legal documents and conducting legal research.
• Ability to manage complex cases independently.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Certifications and Skills:

• Admission to the Florida State Bar or eligibility for admission through reciprocity.
• Experience in insurance defense litigation is a plus.
• Proficiency in legal research tools such as Westlaw.
• Excellent writing and analytical skills.
