Job Overview: A law firm located in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an experienced Education Attorney with over 8+ years of experience in education law. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of public school personnel issues, including layoffs and negotiations, and will operate as general legal counsel while effectively communicating with Board Members and other stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel and guidance on education law matters to clients, including public school districts.
  • Advise on personnel issues, including hiring, discipline, and layoffs.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with staff and educational institutions.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings, mediations, and court proceedings.
  • Draft and review legal documents, policies, and procedures related to education law.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and Board Members to resolve legal issues.
  • Conduct training sessions for school personnel on legal compliance and best practices.
  • Stay current on changes in education law and policies affecting public schools.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple cases and legal projects effectively.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in California.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of legal experience, with a focus on education law preferred.
  • Proven experience handling public school personnel issues and negotiations.

Education:

  • JD from an accredited institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficient in legal research and writing.
  • Knowledge of federal and state education laws and regulations.
