A law firm in Denver is currently seeking a Junior to Mid-level Associate Attorney specializing in patent preparation and prosecution with a background in electrical engineering or computer science. The attorney will be responsible for patent preparation and prosecution, with a focus on electrical engineering or computer science. The successful candidate should possess a high level of academic achievement, solid law firm, engineering, and industry experience, along with exceptional writing and communication skills. Preferred expertise includes patent prosecution in electrical engineering or software-related technologies, data science/AI, networking technologies (especially network security), machine learning/artificial intelligence, and hardware security.

 

Duties:

  • Conducting legal research and analysis related to patent preparation and prosecution.
  • Drafted and filed patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Responding to office actions and communicating with patent examiners.
  • Collaborating with inventors, engineers, and clients to understand and evaluate technical aspects of inventions.
  • Providing legal advice and counseling on intellectual property matters.

 

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of relevant patent preparation and prosecution experience.
  • Degree in electrical engineering or computer science.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) and admission to the USPTO.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

 

Skills:

  • High level of academic achievement.
  • Strong legal research and analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of electrical engineering or computer science principles.
  • Experience in patent prosecution in relevant technologies (electrical engineering, software-related, data science/AI, networking, machine learning/AI, hardware security).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with inventors, engineers, and clients.
