A law firm seeks an Associate Attorney to join its Secured Creditors' Rights practice. The successful candidate will work closely with other attorneys in the firm to represent clients, including leading lenders and mortgage servicers, in the recovery of defaulted loans secured by real estate. This role offers a unique opportunity to be involved in real estate foreclosure, litigation, and bankruptcy services, all while contributing to a growing and dynamic team.

Duties

  • Represent clients in secured creditors' rights matters, including real estate foreclosure, litigation, and bankruptcy cases.
  • Draft and file legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and court orders related to creditors' rights and foreclosure actions.
  • Work on debt recovery matters, assisting with loan defaults and strategies to secure recovery through legal channels.
  • Handle communications with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.
  • Assist in legal research, analysis, and preparation of case strategies.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys in managing caseloads and meeting client objectives.
  • Provide courtroom support, including motion practice and trial assistance.
  • Stay updated on changes in real estate law, title, bankruptcy, and creditors’ rights.

Requirements

  • Must be admitted to practice law in Virginia and in good standing.
  • Knowledge of real estate, title, bankruptcy, and/or debt collection is preferred but not required.
  • Courtroom experience, including motion practice and trial work, is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Proficiency with legal technology and case management tools.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and work independently.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the creditors’ rights practice area.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to practice law in Virginia is required.
