A law firm in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a Patent Attorney with 1-4 years of experience in patent prosecution, particularly in software-related fields such as artificial intelligence and machine learning. The ideal candidate must be registered to practice before the USPTO, possess strong communication and writing skills, and excel in both independent and collaborative team environments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patentability searches and provide opinions on patent validity and infringement.
  • Interview inventors to gather information for drafting patent applications.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to USPTO office actions.
  • Prosecute patent applications, including addressing rejections under 35 U.S.C. §101.
  • Advise clients on patent strategy, portfolio management, and intellectual property rights.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients to achieve successful patent outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • 1-4 years of experience in patent prosecution, preferably with a focus on software technologies.
  • Strong technical background or work experience in software, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications:
