A law firm seeks a Principal Attorney with advanced expertise in franchise law to join its Business Practice Group in New York City, NY. This role focuses on providing end-to-end legal support to a diverse range of clients in complex franchise matters, covering everything from compliance and agreements to dispute resolution and regulatory requirements. This position involves close collaboration with skilled attorneys across various practice areas.

Duties

  • Represent franchisors, franchisees, manufacturers, and distributors on franchise-related legal issues.
  • Draft and review franchise documentation, including disclosure documents, registrations, and franchise agreements.
  • Provide guidance on compliance with franchise laws and manage franchise relationship issues.
  • Address inquiries from regulatory agencies and represent clients in franchise-related disputes.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys from different practice areas to deliver cohesive and strategic solutions for clients.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in franchise law, including representation of franchisors and franchisees, handling franchise documentation, advising on compliance, and addressing regulatory inquiries.
  • Portable Book of Business: Required (partial or full).
  • Academic Credentials: JD from an ABA-accredited law school with a strong academic record.
  • Licensing: Active license to practice law.
  • Skills: Exceptional analytical, legal writing, and client service skills.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills for effective client interactions and strategic advice.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently.
  • Project Management: Skilled in handling multiple responsibilities with a keen eye for detail and organization.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law.
