Job Overview:
A law firm based in Hendersonville, TN, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Attorney to join its civil law department. The ideal candidate will provide strategic direction on cases, act as the primary point of contact for associate attorneys and staff, and oversee the litigation process. In this leadership role, the Lead Attorney will manage a caseload, guide the legal team, and ensure that clients receive exceptional service throughout their cases. This position requires both legal expertise and strong management skills.

Duties:

  • Case Management: Oversee the strategy and execution of assigned legal cases, ensuring deadlines are met, tasks are delegated, and coordination with clients is maintained.
  • Legal Analysis: Conduct in-depth legal research, identify key issues, assess risks, and formulate strong legal arguments.
  • Client Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing updates on case progress, explaining legal matters, and addressing concerns.
  • Courtroom Representation: Present arguments in court hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials, including cross-examination of witnesses.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor junior attorneys, offering guidance and constructive feedback on case strategies and legal work.
  • Negotiation: Lead settlement discussions with opposing counsel to secure favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Compliance: Ensure all legal and ethical standards are met, maintaining accurate documentation throughout the process.

Requirements:

  • Active membership in the Tennessee State Bar
  • At least 5 years of active practice in Tennessee courts
  • Experience in General Civil Litigation, including business and real estate matters
  • Proven leadership skills, including team management and task delegation
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Valid Bar License in the state of Tennessee
