Senior Immigration Attorney

Job Overview:
A law firm in Bakersfield, CA is seeking a Senior Immigration Attorney with at least 5-8 years of immigration law experience. The ideal candidate will have strong experience handling immigration cases, including removal defense, family-based petitions, and other USCIS applications. Location:

• Bakersfield, CA

Duties:

• Explain immigration law concepts and provide strategic legal solutions to clients
• Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals
• Manage a caseload, ensuring all cases are progressing effectively
• Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention centers
• Prepare diverse immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions
• Review immigration applications/packets and make adjustments as necessary
• Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations on immigration law matters
• Meet with potential clients for consultations and develop strategies for their cases
• Develop strategies and prepare clients/witnesses for court and USCIS testimony
• Provide legal analysis to clients, helping them understand the potential benefits of their cases
• Prepare and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases

Qualifications:

• 5-8 years of experience in immigration law
• A team player with the ability to collaborate and strategize with fellow associates
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues
• Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward
• Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications
• Experience with Case Management Software is preferred

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Active bar admission in California

Skills:

• In-depth knowledge of immigration law and procedures
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously
• Detail-oriented and able to manage complex legal documentation
• Proficiency with case management software
