Litigation Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking a Litigation Attorney with 3-5 years of defense litigation experience. The ideal candidate will excel in managing cases from start to finish, possess strong communication skills, and be adept at working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Experience in asbestos and talc litigation, including alternative exposures, is highly desirable.

Duties:

• Manage a diverse caseload from inception through resolution.
• Conduct case workup, including legal research and drafting of pleadings and motions.
• Work with experts to develop case strategies and prepare reports.
• Conduct and defend depositions.
• Collaborate with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Attend court hearings, arbitrations, and mediations.
• Ensure timely case progression and compliance with court deadlines.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of defense litigation experience.
• Hands-on experience with case management and litigation processes.
• Experience in asbestos and talc litigation, including alternative exposure work.
• Must be admitted to practice in Illinois (IL).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and deadlines.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to the Illinois State Bar.
