Associate Attorney - Consumer Collections

Job Overview: A law firm in Fullerton, CA, seeks a dedicated and results-driven Associate Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will possess experience or a strong interest in consumer collection litigation. Duties:

  • Provide thorough assessments and practical advice while advocating for clients in and out of court during the legal collection process.
  • Communicate with opposing counsel and pro se parties to resolve disputes and negotiate amicable resolutions.
  • Draft and review legal briefs, correspondence, pleadings, and other documents.
  • Document account/file activity by firm and client policies and procedures.
  • Travel to various courts within the state and effectively manage all aspects of a case’s litigation life cycle.
  • Research and interpret laws, rulings, and regulations to formulate legal opinions for review by a supervising attorney.
  • Maintain responsive communication with clients to foster and develop strong client relationships.
  • Attend continuing education classes, webinars, and seminars to stay informed of local, state, and federal legal changes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Experience in consumer collection litigation is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of the legal, and regulatory framework of the consumer collection industry.
  • Knowledge of the civil litigation process and state and federal consumer protection laws.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues to identify high-quality solutions and effectively utilize available resources.
  • Superior time management skills and the ability to manage priorities to meet business requirements and deadlines.
  • Leadership skills with the capacity to drive and motivate other employees toward achieving results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, adaptable across various recipients, including attorneys, non-attorneys, and organizational levels.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of California.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of consumer collection litigation and civil litigation processes.
  • Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
