A law firm is seeking an experienced Plaintiff-side Litigation Associate Attorney to support and lead in the handling of wage-and-hour and other labor law cases, primarily under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). This role will be pivotal in finding, evaluating, and initiating new cases, with responsibilities extending to discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trials. The ideal candidate will bring at least three years of experience in plaintiff-side litigation, particularly in wage-and-hour disputes and class or collective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Development:

    • Assist with the identification, evaluation, and initiation of new cases.
    • Develop and implement strategies to advance and resolve cases promptly.
  • Legal Documentation:

    • Formulate and draft pleadings, discovery requests, responses, briefs, and other critical legal documents.
  • Client & Court Interaction:

    • Maintain professional, clear, and prompt communication with clients, opposing counsel, and courts.
    • Engage in compassionate communication during client intake and retention processes.
  • Financial & Settlement Aspects:

    • Assist with developing accurate damage models.
    • Contribute to settlement negotiations and draft motions for approval.
  • Legal Expertise & Compliance:

    • Develop and maintain expertise in the FLSA and related wage-and-hour laws.
    • Adhere to firm protocols regarding time billing and case organization.
  • Case Management:

    • Handle all phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, settlement, or trial proceedings.
    • Focus initially on wage-and-hour cases under the FLSA, with the potential for additional case types.

Qualifications

  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3+ years in plaintiff-side litigation, with a strong preference for experience in wage-and-hour cases, particularly under the FLSA and related state laws.
    • Demonstrated history with class/collective actions and federal court procedures.
  • Skills:

    • Exceptional writing and research skills, with a capacity to draft high-quality pleadings and briefs.
    • Proficient in the client intake and retention process with a client-centered approach.
  • Education & Certifications:

    • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
    • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state.
