Job Overview: A law firm specializing in financial services seeks an experienced Senior Financial Regulatory Associate or Counsel to join their dynamic team in Washington, DC. The ideal candidate will provide expert counsel on various financial regulatory matters, demonstrating deep knowledge of banking operations, consumer and commercial finance, investment brokerage, and digital financial services.

Duties:

  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties.
  • Produce high-quality deliverables, respond promptly to client inquiries, and handle correspondence efficiently.
  • Ensure all work products are accurate, timely, and meet firm standards.
  • Manage deadlines, expectations, and assigned tasks effectively.
  • Foster positive working relationships within the firm and with external stakeholders.
  • Adhere to firm policies and practices, including physical and sedentary activities such as prolonged computer use and virtual meetings.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted to practice law in Washington, D.C.
  • Minimum of 7 years of combined experience at a law firm and financial institution.
  • Direct experience at an AmLaw 100 law firm preferred.
  • Prior experience in financial institutions, with a strong preference for regulatory expertise.
  • Proven track record advising on financial regulatory matters, including banking operations, payments, and online financial services.
  • Experience with ACH and NACHA transactions is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with consumer and commercial finance, including residential mortgage lending and auto finance.
  • Knowledge of investment brokerage activities and electronic contracting.
  • Deep understanding of federal and state laws governing financial services institutions.
  • Ability to prepare client-ready work products and engage with clients effectively.
