Job Overview:

The ideal candidate will be responsible for representing clients in family court actions, including divorce, custody, and child support cases. Location:

Duties:

  • Represent clients in family court actions, including spouses, parents, and individuals.
  • Act as Guardian ad Litem in contested custody matters, representing the best interests of children.
  • Conduct initial consultations, assess the merits of cases, and provide sound legal advice.
  • Draft pleadings, letters, and other court documents.
  • Advocate for clients in hearings, mediations, and negotiations.
  • Answer client questions promptly and provide clear advice.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate case records using the firm’s case management system.

Requirements:

  • South Carolina Bar License or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.
  • Completion of South Carolina Rule 403 trial observation requirements or ability to complete within 6 months.
  • Proficiency with basic office programs, computer software, and online applications.
  • Experience in family law (preferred but not required).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in South Carolina or eligibility to obtain within 6 months.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of legal research and case management.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple cases.
  • Proficiency with case management software (training provided if necessary).
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
