Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in Fresno, CA, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry-Level Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Managing Criminal Defense Attorney, this role involves managing a caseload, interacting with clients, and collaborating with the firm's Criminal Defense Team. The successful candidate will have a strong interest in criminal defense law and a commitment to providing excellent legal representation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage a caseload of criminal defense cases with guidance from senior attorneys.
• Advise clients on their legal rights and draft necessary legal documents.
• Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and provide strategic advice post-hearing.
• Handle court appearances, trials, and draft motions as required.
• Conduct interviews with witnesses and perform legal research to support cases.
• Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.
• Manage case workloads efficiently, ensuring timely progression of cases.
• Provide legal analysis to clients regarding potential benefits and case strategies.
• Gather and assess additional evidence to support clients’ cases or challenge prosecution charges.
• Prepare clients for depositions, including setting goals for case strategy and collecting relevant information from witnesses and experts.
• Demonstrate a strong interest in criminal defense through Law School clinics, volunteer work, or internships.
• Collaborate with the Criminal Defense Team and contribute to team strategies and case management.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Active Bar admission in California, or law graduates awaiting admission will also be considered.
• Demonstrated interest in criminal defense law through relevant Law School clinics, volunteer work, or internship experience.
• Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to working with team members.
• Record of moving legal cases forward and managing a caseload effectively.
• Experience with case management software is preferred.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Active Bar admission in California (or law graduates awaiting admission).

Skills:
