A law firm seeks a highly skilled Trust and Estates Attorney to join its team in New York City. The ideal candidate will have 5 to 10 years of experience in managing high-net-worth clients and executing sophisticated estate planning strategies. This attorney will be responsible for handling significant taxable estates and will play a crucial role in expanding the firm's estate planning department.

Duties

  • Manage a diverse portfolio of high-net-worth clients, providing comprehensive estate planning and trust administration services.
  • Develop and implement sophisticated estate planning strategies that align with the client's financial goals and family dynamics.
  • Handle taxable estates valued at $10 million or more, ensuring compliance with relevant tax regulations and laws.
  • Prepare and review legal documents, including wills, trusts, and other estate planning instruments.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing exceptional service and advice throughout the estate planning process.
  • Assist in the growth and development of the estate planning department, potentially bringing in new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in related practice areas to provide comprehensive legal solutions to clients.
  • Stay abreast of changes in estate planning laws and tax regulations to provide informed guidance to clients.

Requirements

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in trust and estate law or a related field.
  • Proven ability to manage high-net-worth clients and complex estate planning matters.
  • Experience with taxable estates, specifically those valued at $10 million or more.
  • Strong knowledge of various estate planning trust vehicles and related legal concepts.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the New York State Bar Association.
