Job Overview:

A highly regarded law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Insurance Coverage practice group. This role offers the flexibility of working remotely while being based out of the Portland, OR office. The ideal candidate will have strong legal research, writing, and litigation skills and be prepared to handle complex insurance coverage matters.

Location:

  • Portland, OR

Duties:

  • Conduct legal analysis of insurance claims and causes of action.

  • Perform extensive legal research and draft briefs, memos, pleadings, and appellate briefs.

  • Handle discovery requests, including drafting and responding to interrogatories and document requests.

  • Represent clients in court proceedings, arbitrations, and depositions.

  • Collaborate with expert witnesses and develop case strategies.

  • Prepare cases for trial and attend hearings as needed.

  • Maintain an annual billable hour requirement of 1,950 hours.

  • Travel as required for court appearances and client meetings.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in insurance coverage (preferred but not required).

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong client interaction skills and professional demeanor.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Oregon (additional state bar admissions are a plus but not required).

Skills:

  • Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Strong work ethic and ability to manage workload efficiently.

  • Ability to respond promptly to client and colleague communications.
