A law firm seeks a talented Tax Associate with a focus on M&A tax to join its team in Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have experience working on mergers and acquisitions, corporate tax structuring, and related matters, with a strong ability to navigate complex tax issues. Duties:

  • Advise clients on the tax implications of mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
  • Work closely with senior attorneys to develop and execute strategies for structuring tax-efficient deals.
  • Conduct research and guide complex tax regulations related to M&A transactions.
  • Assist in drafting legal documents, including tax opinions, memoranda, and client correspondence.
  • Support client due diligence processes to assess tax risks and opportunities in transactions.
  • Collaborate with other practice areas to ensure seamless execution of cross-functional transactions.
  • Stay up to date on current developments in tax law, particularly as it pertains to corporate and M&A tax matters.

Requirements:

  • Between 3 to 6 years of experience in M&A tax or corporate tax law.
  • Demonstrated expertise in handling complex tax structuring and M&A transactions.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and work within tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the relevant state bar (Washington, D.C.).

Skills:

  • Expertise in M&A tax and corporate tax law.
  • Strong research and writing capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in structuring tax-efficient deals for clients.
  • Familiarity with relevant tax laws, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and interact with clients and colleagues across various practice areas.
