Job Overview

A respected law firm in Asheville, North Carolina, is seeking a Trusts & Estate Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience. This position involves working on a wide range of estate planning, trust administration, and probate matters. The ideal candidate will have experience drafting key estate documents and advising clients on tax-related issues, as well as the ability to manage relationships with clients effectively and contribute to the firm’s growth.

Location

  • Asheville, North Carolina

Duties

  • Draft Wills, Trust Agreements, Powers of Attorney, and Health Care Directives
  • Assist with probate, trust, and estate administration
  • Provide guidance on charitable planning and business succession planning
  • Advise clients on tax matters related to estate planning, including estate tax returns and fiduciary income tax returns
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships, offering personalized counsel and solutions
  • Collaborate with team members while managing projects independently

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in estate planning, probate, and trust administration
  • Exceptional project management, research, and writing skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, with a desire to grow within the firm

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina (or eligibility to waive in)

Skills

  • Proficient in drafting estate planning documents and managing related legal processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage client relationships and provide tailored legal advice
  • Familiarity with tax issues related to estate planning (preferred but not required)
