A law firm in Islandia, NY, is seeking a skilled Construction Accident Litigation Associate Attorney with a strong background in handling construction accident cases, including scaffolding accidents, safety rule violations, bystander’s rights, and wrongful death. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of New York State Labor Law Sections 200, 240 (1), and 241(6) and associated litigation. This position requires managing a caseload, conducting and defending depositions, analyzing medical records, meeting with experts, attending inspections, and handling all aspects of litigation and trial.

Duties:

  • Handle construction accident cases, focusing on scaffolding accidents, safety rule violations/non-compliance, bystander’s rights, and wrongful death.
  • Manage a caseload and assist in covering the calendar for litigation matters.
  • Conduct and defend depositions of witnesses and experts.
  • Prepare clients for deposition testimony.
  • Analyze medical records and other relevant documents.
  • Meet with and consult experts for case evaluation and strategy.
  • Attend inspections and site visits related to construction accident investigations.
  • Utilize strong writing skills to draft motions, pleadings, discovery items, and trial documents.
  • Handle all aspects of litigation from inception through trial.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in construction accident litigation.
  • Experience with New York State Labor Law Sections 200, 240 (1), and 241(6) and associated litigation.
  • Admission to practice law in New York State and in good standing.
  • Demonstrated excellence in legal research, writing, and analysis.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Prior experience in premises liability and general liability litigation is advantageous.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to practice law in New York State.
